Jesus Is The Christ, The Son Of God
The purpose of the Holy Scriptures is to show us salvation through faith in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15). Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12). All that we believe and do is directly linked to our belief and firm conviction that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16).
A Redeemed Life: A Second Chance
All of us have sinned. The Good News of Jesus is that he came to seek and to save the lost (sinners) and to give his life as a ransom for us. We have been forgiven through his blood. The message of the cross reigns in our daily lives because we have died with Christ (Galatians 2:20). He died for us so that we might live for him (2 Corinthians 5:15).
Believer’s Baptism
Jesus commanded his disciples to make disciples of others by baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything he commanded them (Matthew 28:19-20). This baptism saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21). This baptism is to be based on faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-27) and must be accompanied by repentance (Acts 2:38). Repentance is more than a mere regret; it is a change of heart and a change of lifestyle. All of this points to a personal decision and commitment to Christ made by a believing heart that understands his or her need for a Savior.
The Holy Spirit
The New Testament teaches that everyone who is baptized into Christ receives the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). God has promised us! The body of every Christian is a temple of the Holy Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 6:19). Therefore, we are to honor God with our bodies. The Holy Spirit comes into our lives to sanctify us from sin (1 Corinthians 6:11 and 1Peter 1:2). Jesus came to take away our sins (1 John 3:5). The Holy Spirit comes to help us stay away from sin (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8). By the Spirit we are able to defeat sinful habits in our lives (Romans 8:12-14). We live by the Spirit, are led by the Spirit, and must keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25).
Priesthood of Believers—Saved and Sanctified to Serve
Our aim as a church is to challenge and encourage every Christian to use whatever talents and abilities he or she has to serve the Lord and to be actively involved in the life and ministry of the church. We believe that God has called all Christians to be priests who serve in the name of Jesus (1 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:5-6). We have been sanctified by the blood of Jesus to serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14). Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).
People Matter: The Greatest Command is to Love
The greatest command is to love God. The second greatest is to love one another (Matthew 22:36-40). We are called to be imitators of God and to live a life of love (Ephesians 5:1-2). Love is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13:10 and Galatians 5:14). Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (1 John 4:11-12 ).
The Bible Is God’s Word
Everything we believe, teach and practice as a church rests on a fundamental belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). God’s Word endures forever. Its message is as relevant and meaningful today as it was 2,000 years ago. It is our only source of teaching, doctrine and authority. The Bible alone is our guide in all matters relating to our Christian faith and worship.
